• Type: Sphere
  • Type of stone: Larvikite
  • Size: 50 to 55 mm

A magmatic stone, larvikite is composed of feldspar, giving its distinctive blue-silver glow. This particularity earned it the names “blue moonstone”, “bird’s eye granite” or “Norwegian pearl granite”. Norway holds the most important larvikite deposits in the world, near the town of Larvik, from which the stone derives its name.

Relatively new, this gemstone is already widely used in the construction industry, where its beauty sets it as a popular ornamental stone. It decorates the façade of the United Nations headquarters in New York, the Carillon in Berlin and the columns of the Bank of Norway. Larvikite is the national stone of Norway.
