Moonstone takes its name from its resemblance to the Moon. This object of fascination has been revered by many civilisations. During the ancient times, it was considered as the goddesses’ stone. The mineral was then known to have an affinity with womanhood. Therefore, some men were able to disguise themselves as women in order to enjoy the stone’s benefits. Since the mineral’s formation has always been a mystery, it was believed to directly originate from the Moon, according to a Roman legend. In the United States, it was used to pay tribute to the first astronauts to walk on the lunar surface.
