• Type: Sphere

  • Type of stone: Pyrite

  • Size: Between 50 to 55 mm

Pyrite’s main deposits are located in Spain, Italy, Peru, France, the United States, China, the United Kingdom and Slovakia. The stone takes its name from the Greek word « pyros », meaning « fire », a reference to the sparks created by the mineral when in contact with an iron object. Long ago, pyrite was actually used to light fire. It was also exploited for its high sulphur content.

Pyrite is a resistant mineral with a hardness level of 6.5 on the Mohs scale. It is mainly composed of iron bisulphite and has a cubic structure. It is usually of a golden colour, yet it can also show some yellow to brown shades with metallic sparkles.
This stone is widely used in lithotherapy thanks to its numerous virtues. It is therefore carefully handled and offered in various shapes. As for this 50-55 mm pyrite sphere, it is highly appreciated as it is associated with particular astrological signs and chakras. However, to fully benefit from the stone’s properties, maintenance is still an important step
